MIXED MEDIA WORKS ON PAPER

Surrounded by the lush beauty and mystery of the western coast of Ireland this workshop will create works on paper which explore the use of a variety of unusual materials. We will experiment with a combination of techniques, among them collage, paint and pencil, cyanotype (a sunprint process), Xerox transfers, gold and silver metal leaf, and locally "found" materials. Your personal aesthetics and directions will provide the starting points and we will work together - and apart - to develop each artist's vision. There will be demonstrations of various techniques, discussions about the creative process, one on one talks about concept and content...and lots of studio work time. The painter Gauguin urged artists to "dare all" in making art; we will experiment and explore and each individual's ideas will be woven into work with a mix of techniques of their choice.  The workshop is open to artists at all levels of experience.

This Workshop takes place from the 11th - 19th of May 2018. The cost is $1,500 which includes tuition, shared cottage with private bedroom for 8 nights, lunch/dinner/dessert/tea/coffee, collection/delivery to the bus/train stations in Ballina, full use of the Ballinglen Library & facilities 24/7. Participants arrive on the 11th and depart on the 19th (The workshop is for seven days with arrival and departure day making it nine days). Please contact Una Forde on unaforde.baf@gmail.com for availability and booking form.
