Watercolor: Techniques and Applications
Watercolor is an exciting and challenging medium that is immediate and yet can also be manipulated using various methods of applying and removing color. This workshop is open to those who are interested in learning how to work in watercolor as well as those who are already familiar with the medium and interested in learning new techniques.
The course will include demonstrations, experimentation along with individual explorations. Sessions will be held in the studio and if weather permits excursions into the landscape. Information to be covered will include working in wet and dry techniques on various papers, layering color and integrating of ink and pencil.
Materials: Watercolors, pencils, various papers, masking and paper tape. *A detailed list will be made available at a later date.
The cost of this workshop is $1,750 which includes tuition, shared cottage with private bedroom for 8 nights, lunch/dinner/dessert/tea/coffee, collection/delivery to the bus/train stations in Ballina, full use of the Ballinglen library and facilities 24/7. Participants arrive on the 13th and depart on the 21st of March (The workshop is for seven days with arrival and departure day making it nine days). Mr. Olszewski received his B.F.A from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland and his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He has received fellowships from The National Endowment for the Arts, the Pew Charitable Trust, The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and The Polish Consulate in Warsaw.
His fiber constructions and watercolor paintings have been exhibited internationally and can be found in major collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The National Museum of American Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Muskegon Museum of Art, The Museum of Art & Design, New York, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Hermitage, St. Petersburg, Russia. His next exhibitions will be at the Mobile Museum of Art in Mobile, Alabama in October of 2018 and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in February 2019.

Watercolor: Techniques and Applications 13th - 21st March 2019 Class from 14th - 20th March 2019 TOTAL $1,750 Registration is now open and booking forms must be received by Monday, 31st December 2018. First come, first serve basis.
A $500 booking fee applies & is non refundable payable by cheque or credit card. Please email for details re payment, booking forms will be accepted online. A small fee will apply for materials provided. We will email you a receipt once we receive a payment or booking. Payments are non-refundable 2 months prior to the class. Class participation constitutes an agreement to our Health and Safety Policy. Accommodation available from 13th with departure on the 21st. Collection at train/bus in Ballina is also included.
