Masterclasses and Technique Based Workshops at Ballinglen are carried out in a professional yet relaxed environment. The structure and duration of the classes with limited class size provides an in-depth opportunity for individual development. The nature of the Technique Based Workshops and Masterclasses provides a real immersion in art with greater access to tutors on a one to one basis. Each participant will have access to a workspace 24/7. Art work completed during the Workshops/Classes will be displayed in an exhibition in the Ballinglen Gallery on the final day.
Through the centuries, Ireland's mythology, folklore and landscape has been a major influence on artists worldwide. Since its inception in 1992, Ballinglen and North Mayo has established itself as a visual paradise with ideal working conditions for its invited Fellows. We are now delighted to share this opportunity by hosting Workshops/Masterclasses. Ballinglen Fellows will be on residency simultaneously making this a richer experience for everyone. All Tutors of the Workshops/Classes have the distinction of being awarded a Fellowship at Ballinglen.
As part of the Masterclasses/Workshops, there are scheduled field/day trips to surrounding areas including Downpatrick Head, Benwee Head, Kilgalligan, Lacken, & Killala with it's impressive abbeys, Moyne and Rosserk. These trips hopefully will give a new perspective on what is being taught inside the workshop space & add to inspiration and creativity. These beautiful locations have been visited by many artists from all over the world to enjoy the experience of working in such dramatic landscapes.
