Catherine Kernan

Layers of Land; Layers of Ink

Printmaking workshop with Catherine Kernan
Conceived to combine printmaking with an escape from the routine, this workshop combines high-level instruction with inspiration from the extraordinary landscape and history of the West of Ireland.
The dedicated support of the Ballinglen Arts Foundation will allow us to focus on exploring the landscape, making prints, along with enjoying the local historical sites and contemporary culture.
During the week a combination of print studio time, expeditions into the field, independent studio time, demonstrations, and critiques will give maximum flexibility for individual styles and rhythms of working. This encourages the evolution of each artist’s synergy with printmaking processes and personal creative vision.
Catherine has been to BAF numerous times as a Fellow and is intimately familiar with Ballycastle and the surrounding area. She is an experienced teacher, capable of working with many skill levels and approaches to making art.
The workshop is limited to 10 participants to maximize individual interactions with each other and with Catherine. Each participant will have a shared studio at BAF as well as access to the print studio.
