Collograph Printmaking Workshop
Three and a half day workshop also available. For details fill the booking form.
Collograph is a versatile, non-toxic method of printmaking which easily lends itself to experimentation and contemporary large format prints including monotypes. Catherine Farish is known for having perfected many collograph techniques including carborundum, acrylic textured mediums and for using nontraditional surfaces and found objects.
Using a variety of materials starting with compressed white cardboard, we will learn how to prepare plates, etch, develop surfaces and ink multiple plates for printing. Building on the fundamental understanding of these techniques and "reading" of the plates, we will then be free to explore the exciting unlimited possibilities that collograph printmaking offers. This in-depth course is open to students of all levels.
Located in the beautiful and inspiring town of Ballycastle in County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland, this printmaking workshop takes place from the 2nd - 10th April 2020. The cost is $1,800 which includes tuition, shared cottage with private bedroom for 8 nights, lunch/dinner/dessert/tea/coffee, collection/delivery to the bus/train stations in Ballina. Also included is the use of the Ballinglen facilities, art library and an archive collection of over 500 works by international artists who have come on residency to Ballinglen. Participants arrive on the 2nd and depart on the 10th (The workshop is for seven days with arrival and departure day making it nine days). Please contact Una Forde on unaforde.baf@gmail.com for availability and booking form.
