Arno Kramer

Drawing will be the basic starting point in a wide range of possibilities. Artists who are working with drawing in a more 3 dimensional way, or even interested in drawing installations are also welcome.

With increasing attention in recent years for drawing in both art colleges & national & international exhibitions, this Masterclass will pay more attention to this discipline in a specific Drawing Masterclass. Last year Arno Kramer worked very successfully with 9 professional artists on the development of each participants works on paper. The idea of working and talking about each individual's drawings did have a big impact. The results of the whole week were presented in a show with an enormous amount of recent works. Each participant did his or her own work, most of the time at his/her own tempo, but very much focused on development.

Professional artists can send an application with documentation from their drawings. The basic idea for offering a Drawing Masterclass is to focus on existing works from participants, which means that every artist should take at least 15 recent drawings to Ballycastle, so that these works can form the beginning of critique and debate. Arno Kramer will give critique on the works and if possible make suggestions on how to continue making drawings from a hopefully new & interesting perspective. It does not matter what the specific content of the drawings are. Every subject or object as a
starting point for work is welcome. The main focus will be if the drawing has an autonomous quality & be an original piece of art & not a sketch for a painting or sculpture. The autonomous and developing drawing is nearly a new phenomenon. You can think about it not only in content, but also in several techniques, collages & even in the size of the works.

This Masterclass takes place from the 11th - 19th of February 2019. The cost is $1,700 which includes tuition, shared cottage with private bedroom for 7 nights, lunch/dinner/dessert/tea/coffee, collection/delivery to the bus/train stations in Ballina, full use of the Ballinglen Library & facilities 24/7. Participants arrive on the 11th and depart on the 19th. Please contact Una Forde on unaforde.baf@gmail.com for availability and booking form. Send drawings for consideration by Arno prior to enrollment to ballinglenarts@gmail.com.
